KPC
Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC) is a public corporation of economic character having an independent legal personality and supervised by the oil minister.
It was established in January 1980 to carry out all activities relating to all phases of petroleum and hydrocarbon industries in general both in Kuwait and abroad.
Accordingly, all national companies were transferred to KPC which, by turn, reorganized and redistributed the oil industry's activities among its national subsidiaries as follows:
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) assumed the responsibility for exploration and production of oil and gas within Kuwait.
Kuwaiti National Petroleum Company (KNPC) undertook the responsibility for refining, liquefied gas operations, and the marketing of petroleum products within Kuwait on behalf of the marketing sector in KPC.
Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) was given the responsibility for producing and marketing fertilizers and petrochemicals.
Kuwait Oil Tankers (KOTC) took over the transport operations of crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied gases.
The Kuwait Aviation Fueling Company (KAFCO) is responsible for supplying airplanes with fuel at Kuwait International Airport.
The International Marketing Department in the Corporate headquarters controls the marketing and sales of crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) outside Kuwait.
Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), which its main interest is about the oil existed in the Divided Zone between the State of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
In pursuit of its objectives of diversification and flexibility, KPC has expanded its foreign operations through two newly created subsidiary companies:
Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) which is responsible for overseas oil and gas exploration and exploitation.
Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) which operates the downstream acquisitions in Europe that have effectively made KPC a fully integrated operation from well-head to petrol pump
