For the 11th consecutive year, KOC held its annual ceremony to celebrate the distribution of the C&MD HSE Award. The ceremony was held at the Hilton-A-Mangaf on May 5th.
“This gathering rightly reflects the top priority we give to the health of our employees, safety of our operations and integrity of our environment,” C&MD Sami Al-Rushaid said to open the ceremony. He pointed out the high number of participants to show the high level of a proper HSE-related culture among the employees. “We have to change our behavior in every thing we do, whether at work or at home and be the role-model for our children in maintaining the best human behavior,” he added.
Al-Rushaid enumerated a number of the recently recorded HSE achievements. “During the last twelve months, KOC has attained many achievements, such as the inauguration of the Kuwait Oasis in Burgan, the skimming of oil from evaporation pits, decreased gas-flaring, boosting H2S treatment Capability and recording millions of safe working hours for major contractors without accidents.
Chairman of C&MD HSE Award Committee Mohammad Al-Fodari spoke also on the occasion. He said the committee had received 283 submittals to participate in the competition which focused on improving the HSE behavior in the areas of integrity management, risk assessment, health & environment performance compliance, contractors HSE performance and HSE exemplary behavior.
Other appreciation rewards were given to the EPA Acting General Manager Captain Ali Al-Haidar and Compensation PA Deputy Chairman Dr. Adel Assem.
The ceremony ended with a film showing the company’s HSE achievements.
