Kuwait Oil Sector Leaders Welcome
Chinese Vice-Premier to KOC
The State Council Vice-Premier, Li Keqiang, of the People’s Republic of China made a visit to the Company on December 29th, 2008. Ahmadi Governor, Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim Dua’ij Al-Sabah; KPC CEO, Saad Al-Shuweib; KOC C&MD, Sami Al-Rushaid; and leaders of the Kuwait oil sector greeted the honorable guest and his high-level delegation.
Al-Shuweib praised the cooperation between Kuwait and China, stating, “We are keen to improve our business ties, especially in the oil-related business. Also, we would like to see more Chinese companies participating in our tenders and projects.”
For his part, Keqiang underlined the importance China gives to advancing the economic relationship between the two countries. “We have dedicated sufficient time for meeting with the Kuwait oil sector leaders in order to be acquainted with the KPC objectives and future projects,” he said.
KPC and its affiliated companies were introduced during the meeting. As well, the US$ 9 billion Kuwait-China joint Nansha project was also reviewed. The biggest of its kind in China, the project involves the construction of a huge petrochemical complex in Guandong Province.
The guests toured also the Display Center and paid a visit to GC-19.
