The Kuwait Oil Company is participating as a Platinum Sponsor in the Middle East Artificial Lift Forum (MEALF) being held in the Kingdom of Bahrain during the 17th -18th of February, 2009.
H.E. Dr. Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Oil and Gas Affairs and Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority, formally inaugurated the forum (MEALF), which is being attended by over 150 industry professionals from worldwide.

The biennial conference, which is at The Gulf Hotel Bahrain, features a total of 23 technical presentations related to the use of various artificial lift technologies in oil production. A series of pre-forum training workshops were a day earlier on various technologies including electrical submersible pumps (ESPs), gas lifting (GL), and beam pumping (BP) or sucker rod pumping (SRP).
In his keynote address, Dr. Ali Mirza stressed the important role played by artificial lift in crude oil production by pointing out that over 50% of the world’s oil wells currently utilize some form of artificial lift technology. Citing the local situation, he added that more than 60% of oil wells in Bahrain also use these technologies, which contribute about 50% to the kingdom’s total oil production.
In addition to the presentation of technical papers, MEALF 2009 also features an exhibition that showcases the latest artificial lift products, equipment, systems and services.
