Ahmadi City Celebrates 60th Anniversary
Under the auspices and in the presence of HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Al-Ahmadi city celebrated its 60th anniversary at an event held at the Ahmadi Cricket Ground on Tuesday March 17. HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Muhammad and a number of state dignitaries attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ahmadi Governor, Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim D. Al-Sabah, expressed the gratitude of the people of Ahmadi city to the Crown Prince for sharing in their celebrations. The ceremony marked the establishment of the city in 1939 by HH Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the late Amir of Kuwait.
"The establishment of Ahmadi has been a major landmark in the modern history of Kuwait. It represents the progress of Kuwait to a modern state," he said.
The celebration included the "Um Al-Khair" musical extravaganza, which depicted Kuwait's history, sacrifices and recent development. Prominent Arab singers, including the renowned Muhammad Abdu participated in the show. Other performers included Hind from Bahrain, Muhammad Al-Misbah, Bashar Al-Shatti, Abdul Rahman Al-Hreibi and Muhammad Al-Rajeeb.
Students from Ahmadi schools played a central role in the celebrations.
