The dynamic and crucial role of Kuwait Oil Company since the Oil Concession Agreement was awarded during the era of H.H. Sheikh Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, tells the St ory of Oil in Kuwait.
In this video production, the story is told through original footage, live interviews and rare archive material that is published for the first time.
The film shows the important historic events of the Story of Oil in Kuwait starting from the discovery of oil, the first export shipment, the developments in the oil industry and the KOC achievements.
The oil fires and the damage to the oil fields caused by the Iraqi invasion are documented along with KOC efforts to reconstruct and rehabilitate the oil fields, the resumption of oil production & export and KOC’s contribution to the welfare of the state of Kuwait through the implementation of the Company’s strategic plan.

On February 26th 1991, Kuwait was liberated from the Iraqis by a coalition force representing 35 countries. Kuwait’s infrastructure was badly damaged by the Iraqis but its oil industry bore the worst of the destruction. More than seven hundred wells were set ablaze, others were left gushing.
All Kuwait Oil Company’s major installations were destroyed or seriously damaged. This Film is a record of that destruction, and a monument to the achievements of the Kuwait Oil Company in capping the burning wells.
