Coinciding with the State of Kuwait's national holiday celebrations, and as a reflection of the oil sector's keenness to implement the Energy Transformation directives by 2050, including agriculture and afforestation initiatives, KPC launched a joint environmental initiative to plant Sidr trees in KOC's Ahmadi Oasis.
The event was held in the presence of His Excellency the Governor of Ahmadi, Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, KPC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, KOC CEO Ahmad Jaber Al-Eidan, KNPC CEO Wadha Al-Khatib, and several oil sector leaders and employees.
In his speech on the occasion, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah stressed that KPC and its subsidiaries are making steady progress towards achieving the goals of the Energy Transformation Strategy 2050, which includes enhancing environmental sustainability through projects aimed at reducing environmental impacts and increasing green spaces.
For his part, Al-Eidan highlighted that this initiative reflects the Company's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability within its comprehensive strategy to achieve a balance between oil operations and environmental protection. He explained that KOC is working to implement integrated environmental projects, including the restoration of environmentally damaged areas and increasing green spaces, in line with Kuwait's Energy Transformation vision.
Al-Eidan added that planting Sidr trees in Ahmadi Oasis is a practical step in the fight against desertification and improving air quality. He noted that the Company continues to support environmental initiatives and strengthen partnerships with various authorities to achieve a more sustainable environment for future generations.
During the event, around a thousand Sidr trees were planted in the oasis. A similar event was hosted in the oasis two days prior, in which members of the diplomatic corps in Kuwait participated, as part of the "Greening Kuwait" campaign organized by KOC in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (Habitat).
