Mr. Thai Quoc Vu graduated from The University of Tulsa, in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, United States.
He has 35 years of experience in the oil industry.
He has been with KOC since 2010 in FD SEK GBS. Before joining KOC, he
had worked over 30 years in the U.S. with Exxon USA, ARCO Alaska, BP
Exploration and the State of Alaska.
Today he will share his experience in “SEK Water Handling Facility
Expansion Challenge.”

Alfulaij
Abrarr Alfulaij is a planner in KOC R&D Group. She has graduated from
University of Colorado with a Bachelor and Masters in Electrical
Engineering. From 2006 to 2014 she has worked in KPC Technology
Management department where she has contributed in managing KPC EVI, the
venture capital arm of KPC.

Ahmed
Khalid is currently working with KOC as a TPL Specialist Petrophysicist
in the Heavy Oil Group. A career Petrophysicist with over 3 decades of
experience, Khalid joined KOC in 2002, after successfully serving ONGC,
India’s National Oil Company, for 21 years. He started his career as a
Field Engineer and then moved in to the role of Petrophysicist, working
in both onshore and offshore- dealing with Clastics as well as
Carbonates. He is working with KOC Heavy Oil Group since its inception
in 2007. He is author of many technical publications and papers and is
in the Technical Editor team of SPE’s Peer Review Committee for various
technical journals. He had co-chaired many SPE events and delivered Key
Note address in one SPE-ATW. He holds an M Sc in Physics and is an
active member of SPE, SPWLA and AAPG.

Abdulwahab is a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from A&M University,
Alabama in 1994 and has 19 years of work Experience in Inspection &
Corrosion Teams in Kuwait Oil Company. Presently he is a TPL Specialist
and heading West Kuwait Inspection Section. He has passion for writing
and has many publications to his credit, published in various local and
international Journals.

I initially started as an employee of the E&P IM team 8 years ago
supporting & coordinating their data loading workflows. For the past 4
years, I am working as a Planner (strategic) via the D&T Planning Team
for the R&T Business unit and heading the R&T Marketing &
Communications. In addition, I also support the E&P IM team branding
efforts.
I was born & raised in Kuwait having a Bachelors of Liberal Arts in
Economics from the University of Iowa.

Syed Mohammad Razaa is Senior Training Coordinator in Technical
Personnel Development Team in Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
He holds Master degree in Commerce (M. Com from Avadh University India).
In his 16 years of Middle East Experience in the area of Competency
Development, Mr. Syed has completed various value added projects for
both government and non-government organizations.
As a competency development specialist, Mr. Syed has introduced several
new initiatives and projects and implemented successfully such as BTEC
and NVQ programs in different disciplines (Business Administration,
Mentoring & Coaching, Accounts and Finance etc.).
Currently working with Technical Personnel Development team (more than 5
years) and involved intensively in numerous performance management and

Administration (MBA) having 24+ years of professional experience in the
Oil & Gas Industry in the field of Engineering Design, Project
Management, Construction, Testing & Commissioning of EPC, LSTK & FPLS
Projects. I had joined M/s Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Engineering Group as
an Electrical Design Engineer-I in the year 2006 and handled many
projects as supporting engineer as well as Lead Design Engineer to
prepare the CPP, FEED, BP, AFE, RFC, Review & Approval of Detailed
Design Documents of Contractor Transmittals, Letters and completed many
projects successfully leading a Team of other discipline engineers in
close coordination and proactive action with Senior Engineers, Team
Leaders, Managers. Prior to joining KOC, I was selected by M/s Bahrain
Petroleum Company (Bapco), Bahrain in the year 2000 as Electrical Design
Engineer for the Bapco Strategic Investment Projects. I had started my
carrier as a project Engineer at Visakh Refinery of M/s Hindustan

Jaleel Tharayil
Abdul Jaleel is the Project Leader, Enterprise Knowledge management at
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). He has over 19 years of experience in the
domain of Knowledge Management. A native of Malappuram, India, Jaleel
began his career as an Information Assistant with National Defense
Science Lab, New Delhi, in the year 1993. Since then he has worked on
various Knowledge Management Roles with various organizations such as
IBM Global Services India, MindTree Consulting and Wipro. In the year
2008 he moved to Kuwait and worked on various Knowledge Management
consulting engagements in the Oil and Gas Sector. Prior to joining KOC,
he served as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Kuwait. Abdul Jaleel
holds a Master's Degree in Information Science from Indian Statistical
Institute, Kolkata and a double bachelor’s degree from Calicut

Al-Ghareeb
has borne in State of Kuwait 1983. He gets the bachelor in Geology in
2005 from Kuwait University, and he gets the master's degree in general
geology specialized in seismology in 2014 also from Kuwait University.
His master's research about the relationship between the earthquakes and
the oil operation in State of Kuwait.
He worked as a geology teacher for 3 years then he joined to one of the
major oil company in exploration and development called Al-Khafji Joint
Operation as an Exploration Geologist since 2008 till date. Abdulaziz is

Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) downtime reduction in NK fields, also

Graduated from Kuwait University (KU) in the year 2003 with a Bachelor
of Science in Geology. He began his career working for Kuwait Oil
Company (KOC) in 2004 as Well site geologist for the initial two years
and then shifted to Development Geology in Field Development North
Kuwait Group. Transferred to NK Reservoir Studies Team as Petrophysicist
in 2009, worked on open hole logging programs, log editing,
normalization and interpretation, cased hole interpretation for
surveillance and workover wells. Also worked on Cores and routine core
analysis. Also participated in several additional Petrophysical projects
in FDNK like Water Encroachment Monitoring Project, FDNK database clean
up and Stamped Logs, and completed the Petrophysical Characterization
Training Program (Houston, Texas 2011). Transferred to Gas Fields
Development Group in 2013.

C. Banik
had acquired his Master’s degree in the year 1979 and M.Phil. degree in
the year 1980 from University of Delhi, India. Since 1981, he is
associated with various Oil companies such as KOC, Hardy E&P Co. and
ONGC. He has also worked in Nam Con Son Basin in offshore Vietnam,
B-structure Gas Field, in offshore Thailand and on exploration block in
south Iraq prior to his joining in KOC. He joined Exploration Group, KOC
in 1999 and have been actively associated with exploration activities
all over Kuwait since then. For over past 15 years, his major
association in Exploration lies with Jurassic Prospect Evaluation team.
In association with his other team members, he has been instrumental in
mapping, reservoir characterization, deciphering trapping mechanism and
evaluation of prospects that resulted in remarkable success all across
Kuwait.

Singavarapu
is working in oil industry since 1985. He has 28 years’ experience as a
Geophysicist in the premier National oil companies of India and Kuwait.
Having Master’s Degree in Geophysics and solid experience of 20 years
working in Geophysical Interpretation in both the fields of Exploration
and Development with a sound knowledge of working both in clastics and
carbonates environment. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of well to
seismic calibration and depth conversion methodologies, experienced and
trained in application of AVO, acoustic impedance inversion and
attribute analysis with emphasis on Reservoir Characterization, fluid
prediction and with an understanding of structural and stratigraphic
settings. He possesses 8 years of experience in geophysical data
acquisition planning, provisioning, supervising and executing data
acquisition projects. He has written more than 50 technical reports in
his career and more than 15 technical papers were presented in various
technical forums including SEG and GEO.
Presently working in Kuwait Oil Company(KOC) as a Lead Geophysicist in a
synergistic environment integrating Geophysical, Geological, Petro
physical and Reservoir data, to recommend most suitable and prospective
drilling locations for exploration.

is a Senior Development Geologist in Kuwait Oil Company. He holds
Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Calcutta and PhD in
Carbonate Sedimentology from the University of Garhwal, Srinagar. He has
26 years of experience in oil & gas exploration and development projects
in a number of challenging basins of Africa and Southeast Asia. He has
published more than 30 papers in various journals and conference
volumes. His current focus of interest is in carbonate reservoir
characterization and modelling.

Ma
Eddie Ma has worked with Kuwait Oil Company, Field Development group
(SEK) for the past 17 years. His work has focused on reservoir
simulation of giant models in the Greater Burgan field of Kuwait.
He completed his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the
University of Calgary, Canada in 1976. He worked on a wide variety of
reservoir and production engineering at Gulf Canada Resources before
joining Kuwait Oil Company in 1997.
He has been an active SPE member, presented technical papers and
co-chaired in many SPE conferences. He is currently a senior specialist
- simulation in the Greater Burgan Studies Team at KOC.

Master degree in electrical Engineering – Power electronics, from Kuwait
University.

Mr.T.Sanyal
Mr.T.Sanyal did his Post Graduation in Geology from Calcutta University
in India in 1977. He started his career in the Indian national oil
company ONGC. He joined Kuwait Oil Company in 1998 and is presently
working as the lead Reservoir Engineer in the Heavy Oil Development
Group of Kuwait. He is actively associated with Pilot planning,
development planning and performance analysis of this thermal Heavy Oil
EOR project.

Srinivasa Murthy has Mechanical Engineering degree and a Post Graduate
Diploma in Executive Management from India. He has 25 years of work
experience in Oil and Gas Industries in Inspection & Corrosion
functions. He Joined Inspection & Corrosion Team of KOC in 2006 and has
been working with West Kuwait Inspection Section for the past 5 years.
He has five publications in the international Journals/conferences
relating to Plant Integrity and Inspection.

Victor Chapman
Terrance moved to Kuwait from England in 1995 to work for the Kuwait Oil
Company. His background is Information Technology and he has worked in
manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and retail banking. For the last six
years he has led the project to certify the Kuwait Oil Company quality
management system to ISO9001 standard. He is married and has three adult
children.
In addition, I have a passion for website designing, internet marketing
and various other creative arts. I hold certification in Website
Designing and I am currently studying for certification in Change
Management & Kaizen.

Uthaman
Mr. Uthaman is the Chief Chemist in Kuwait Oil Company and is a dual
degree holder in Science and B.Sc (Chemical Engineering). He is a full
Member (MCIC) in Canadian Society of Chemistry and Chemical Institute of
Canada. Currently, he is in charge of North Kuwait labs of KOC; and is
also fully involved in Sea Water/produced water disposal/injection
plants, oil field chemicals issues, their selection/screening and field
trials. He is well known for his participation and contribution in the
produced water management and lab conferences. Earlier, he worked in
reputed concerns in India, 6 years with Saudi-ARAMCO in Gas Oil
Separator Plants and Gas Injection plants and also in Al-Furat
Petroleum- Shell (Syria). In his long career with oil industry, he has
visited overseas projects for knowledge sharing, conducted training
workshops and presented numerous papers in the international
conferences.

Eisa Al-Daihani is the Team Leader of Technical Personnel Development
Team in Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). In his 18 years of experience in KOC
as Reservoir Engineer / Team Leader, he successfully completed numerous
critical and value added projects. Over the last 6 years he worked in
the Technical Training department and was recognized as instrumental in
pioneering the Subsurface Talent Development and Management practices.
Eisa Al-Daihani graduated from TULSA University with a Bachelor degree
in Petroleum Engineering. Additionally he has acquired immense knowledge
on innovative approaches to unlock the potential of staff using
unconventional and blended learning methods utilizing key learning’s
from attending various trainings and conferences held on an
international scale. Currently he is managing the talent development
related projects for subsurface staff in Kuwait Oil company.

A Geologist with over 30 years of experience in Upstream Oil & Gas
Companies in Well site Operations, Exploration, Field Development and
Technical Training. Worked in Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC),
India for over 28 yrs. as Geologist through Chief Geologist in different
basins of India. Presently working as ‘Geologist Specialist’ for Kuwait
Oil Company (KOC) in Kuwait. Graduated in 1976. Masters; M. Tech.
(Applied Geology) in 1979 from University of Saugar, India. Ph. D.
(Geology) from M. S. University, Baroda, India during 1992-97. The Ph.D.
was on Carbonate Sedimentology i.e. ‘Microfacies, Diagenesis and
Depositional Environments of Middle Jurassic Carbonates of Kutch, India.
Published 10 research papers in national and international conferences.

I received my BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Arizona - USA in 1999, as student I worked at college of Electrical and
Computer Engineering Electronics lap and math Tutor for students with
special needs. Joined KOC in year 2000, worked for Maintenance and
Technical Services teams. I'm Member of Kuwait engineering Society ,Gulf
Society for Maintenance Professionals - member of the technical
committee and member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers. Member of different KOC Electrical standards committees,
member of power and water saving committee and KOC power strategy
committee. Participated in the review of several maintenance contracts
and projects commissioning. Winner of two KOC CMD HSE awards for
electrical projects and standard compliance contributed to HSE.
Presentation in Plant Maintenance and Reliability conference in 2012 in
Istanbul titled KOC methodology for maintenance excellence, Paper and
presentation related to enhancing the integrity and reliability of Power
Network in Maintenance and Reliability Strategies conference– Dubai.
Proposed water fire monitors as alternative for the regular deluge
system and implemented a pilot. Implemented lighting motion and heat
sensor for control building and electrical substations.

Jalal is a geologist at Kuwait Oil Company where he has seven years of
well site geology experience. Most of his work has been in the formation
evaluation while drilling based on field data. Master student in
sedimentology in the Kuwait University. Has many published geological
studies in gas and fracture analysis in international conferences.
Currently serves as Operation in charge in Exploration Group, KOC.

Chemical Engineering from Kuwait University, he author and co-author for
many publication and presentations in many conferences and forums. In

Ashok Garlapati works as a HSE Consultant in the HSE D&T Team of
Drilling & Technology. He has 25 years’ experience in HSE consultancy
and HSE management in the oil and gas industries. He is certified with
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) from BCSP,USA; QEP (Qualified
Environment Professional) from IPEP,USA and CMIOSH (Chartered member of
IOSH, UK). He is also the Lead Auditor of the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
standards and approved as an OSHA outreach trainer. He has extensive
experience in implementation of HSE management systems for process
industries in line with international standards. He is involved in the
on-going implementation of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards in D&T
Directorate.
Ashok is a professional member of American Society of Safety Engineers
(ASSE) and a past president of ASSE’s Kuwait Chapter. He played an
important role in the Kuwait Chapter’s establishment, which is ASSE's
largest international chapter. Currently, he is an advisory member of
the Kuwait Chapter. He served as a member of ASSE’s Global Taskforce and
received the Charles V. Culbertson Award in 2007, the Region VI Safety
Professional of the Year Award in 2010 and the Edgar Monsanto Queeny
Safety Professional of the Year Award in 2011. He has been appointed by
ASSE-USA as ASSE Ambassador for ME, India and SE Asia in recognition of
his professional volunteering.
Ashok is a member of the International Association for Drilling
Contractors’ HSE Committee, a taskforce member of the International
Association of Oil & Gas Producers’ Waste Management Committee, a member
of the International Petroleum Industries Environmental Conservation
Association’s (IPIECA) Climate Change Group and a Dy. Chairman of
General Safety Subcommittee of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.

Chiranjit
Barua
Specialist Reservoir Engineer, Kuwait Gulf Oil Compan
Chiranjit Barua is currently working as a Specialist Reservoir Engineer
in the Fields Development (Khafji) Team at KGOC. Prior to his tenure at
KGOC, Barua worked for Shell and Oil India Limited. He has provided Lead
Reservoir Engineering support to several world-wide integrated study
projects in Kuwait, US, Russia, India, Egypt, Brunei, Australia etc. The
projects included Field Development studies, Development of Tight Gas
Reservoirs, Reservoir Simulation studies, SPE/SEC Reserves assessment,
pattern water flooding, production forecasting etc. He was awarded with
the SPE-ONGC Award and also received Special recognition awards. Barua
is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, USA and is
also a Contibutor in the COE initiative.

Hanan
Abdulrazzaq
joined KOC on 2007 after the graduation from Kuwait University as a
petroleum geologist. She joined field development south and east Kuwait
as development geologist and worked with different GC teams. Currently
she is working with GC3&21. Had the chance to work with exploration
group for almost 1 year. She worked on different projects since joining
KOC which the PAD drilling is the major achievement.

Bibin Markose Ninan
has a decade of experience in software application development in
Petroleum industry, exclusively to the Integration and Visualization in
Exploration & Production Information Management field. He received his
Masters in Software Engineering from Periyar University, India. Bibin
Started his career in the oil and gas industry in 2005 with an oil and
gas service company in Kuwait. Bibin joined Kuwait Oil Company in 2010
and currently holds a position of Senior Systems Analyst in Research &
Technology Group. His software applications and tools, developed
in-house have gained national and international recognition for the
company by winning various awards and nominations.

Ahmad Al-Shatti
Safety Engineer, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC)
Ahmad possesses a BSc (Mechanical Engineering) from Kuwait University
and has joined KOC as a Safety Engineer in 2010. He is currently
involved in safety programs related to drilling rigs in Drilling &
Technology Directorate. He recently became a certified “H2S Awareness”
trainer.

Mazin Nayef
is currently working as TPL Specialist –I (Electrical) with Kuwait Oil
Company. He has a working experience of more than 30 years at KOC and
has worked in different position like Engineer, Snr. Engineer & TPL
Specialist. He graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from
California State University Sacramento USA in 1983 & he is a Microsoft
Certified System Engineer (MCSE) from New Horizon Institute Kuwait. His
expertise in the field of Oil & Gas is an added asset to the company, he
has attended & represented many different Oil & Gas Seminars, Conference
& exhibition. His technical and professional competencies related to the
KOC’s core business and technical issues helped our team to achieve the

Advanced well completion techniques like ICD completions, Smart
Completions, Multilateral Completions, Sand control, Well Stimulation,

Al-Kaouri
has over 12 years of experience in the field of information technology
and has worked for more than 8 years in the oil and gas industry. He
graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Management of Information Systems
from IPNET. In January 2013 Mostafa was acknowledged by Kuwait Oil

Alawadhi
Senior Petroleum Engineer
graduated from Marietta College, Ohio in 2004 and joined KOC in 2005. He
has over eight years of experience working as Petroleum Engineer.
While working in Discoveries Promotions Team in Exploration, his job
criteria included working office & field, following up and designing
completion & workoever programs.
Then transferred to Field Development Gas Team with further tasks
including gas field development, monitoring Drilling activities for deep
Gas wells, adding reserves, and sustaining gas production.
Right now Mansour Alawadhi is an active Senior Petroleum Engineer
working in Gas Fields Development Jurassic II. He is a very social and
effective team member and likes to work in open environment with verity
of people and staff members.

El-Sayed Elmahdy
• is Senior Reservoir Engineer for Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC)
• He holds a BSc Petroleum Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt in
2002.
• He has 12 years' experience in Reservoir and well testing Engineering
for oil & gas Fields.
• He jointed Spider petroleum Services Company as a well test Engineer
in Egypt/Algeria, and after that he jointed Belayim Petroleum Company
(PETROBEL) in Egypt as reservoir engineer till Jun/2013.
• He can handle the following activities: all conventional reservoir
activity, building simulation models (Black oil), water injection
optimization, well testing interpretations, and production optimization.

Naz
is currently Sr. Consultant at FD (SEK) and he has been working in the
oil industry for over 40 years in most of the famous oil provinces
around the world from North America and Europe to Africa, Middle East,
and Asia. Earlier he worked for Halliburton for 29 years and was
recipient of Halliburton Technical Recognition Award. He taught at
University of Oklahoma, Central Oklahoma State University, and Tinker US
Air Force Base, both Petroleum Engineering and MBA courses. Naz holds MS
degree in Petroleum Engineering and MBA from University of Oklahoma. He
has authored and co-authored over 50 papers, and is recipient of several
SPE and other awards including SPE Service award in 2010 and SPE
Completions Optimization and Technology award in 2013. He was SPE
Distinguished Lecturer on water management in 2007-2008 and also served
in many SPE committees. He is presently member of Upstream CoE, the
Center of Excellence program in tight reservoir stimulation and water
management disciplines.
