PANEL SESSION: Understanding Kuwait’s Path to Gender Parity Within the Workforce: Lessons and Reflections

Kuwait stands out in the Gulf for its high rate of women’s workforce participation, with around 50% of working-age Kuwaiti women are active in the labour market, making it one of the highest rates in the Middle East. This panel explores the drivers behind that progress: strong educational attainment (with women making up over 60% of graduates), visible female role models in leadership, flexible work conditions, and relatively liberal social attitudes.

Speakers will reflect on how these factors have enabled more women to enter and thrive in professional roles, particularly in energy and public service. The session will also examine what challenges remain, from workplace inclusion and leadership representation to broader cultural expectations, and what lessons other regions can draw from Kuwait’s experience. Expect a candid and inspiring conversation on how structural support, progressive policy, and visibility can shift norms and unlock talent.

Adaptability in a World of Transition: Navigating Constant Changes in Energy Policies and Markets

This dynamic discussion focuses on how adaptability, resilience, and systems thinking enable youth to navigate rapid industry change, from energy shocks to climate imperatives. The purpose is to prepare young professionals for an environment where change is the only constant: whether it’s a sudden policy shift (like a new carbon regulation), market volatility, or a technological disruption, being able to adjust quickly is key. The audience value is in hearing strategies from individuals and companies that have weathered such changes. Panellists will likely discuss experiences like coping with the 2020 oil price crash, pivoting business models during a pandemic, or integrating an unexpected renewable mandate, highlighting what mindset and skills (continuous learning, cross-functional knowledge, emotional intelligence) helped them succeed. The expected dialogue is engaging and candid, possibly structured around scenarios (“What would you do if...?”).
