KOC recently conducted a crisis and disaster management exercise as part
of the Company’s annual plan to ensure the emergency response readiness and
business continuity of its various Groups and Teams. The drill was held under
the supervision of KOC CEO Emad Mahmoud Sultan.
The exercise involved a scripted emergency scenario which involved a
fire in several areas of the KOC Information Technology Center. In part, the
exercise aimed to ensure the Company’s readiness in terms of maintaining public
safety, protecting the continuity of KOC’s vital operations, and managing
crisis communications and public relations through the handling of information
by the Company's Crisis Resilience Management Team and Senior Management.
Senior KOC officials said that the drill serves as an exercise in
managing disasters which affect the Company’s advanced technologies. It also
served as an exercise which involved sustaining KOC’s core operations during a
disaster scenario. The drill highlighted KOC’s readiness to address such
challenges, which involves institutional commitment and high levels of
collaboration and cooperative action from all areas of the Company.
Officials said that this type of exercise is a critical component in the
maintenance of the highest international standards and requirements in the area
of crisis management and continuity of vital operations. Overall, the exercise
reflected KOC’s commitment to uphold its reputation as a safe and reliable
supplier of energy to the world.
