KOC signed
three contracts for the remediation of contaminated soil as a result of the invasion. These contracts come within the Kuwait Environmental
Rehabilitation Program (KERP), the largest environmental treatment project in
the world.
KOC CEO Emad
Mahmoud Sultan represented the company at the signing ceremony, in the presence
of the DCEO (Corporate Services) Abdul Wahab Al-Mithin, and Ag. DCEO Major
Projects & Technical Services Ali Al-Kandari, in addition to a number of officials
from KOC and the contractors.
These
contracts cover Soil treatment works in both North and South Kuwait areas,
while later this month, two similar contracts will be signed with local and
global contractors.
The
five projects, which their contracts prepared by the Soil Remediation Group at
KOC, will treat approximately 13 million cubic meters of oil-contaminated soil
from the invasion, in cooperation and coordination with the Kuwait National
Focal Point (KNFP).
