KOGS Opening Ceremony






The State of Kuwait recently hosted the 4th Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference (KOGS), which was organized by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries in cooperation with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). The 2019 edition of KOGS was held under the theme of “New Energy Transition: Delivering Value Through Collaboration and Capability.”



The KOGS opening ceremony was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. His Excellency the Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water, Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhel, chaired the event’s inaugural ceremony, which took place at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center in Kuwait City on October 13, 2019.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh also attended the event’s opening ceremony. Other senior government officials, K-Company CEOs, and a number of foreign diplomats and dignitaries were also present.

The event at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center began with the performance of the National Anthem of the State of Kuwait and a recitation from the Holy Quran. This was followed by speeches from the Minister of Oil and KPC CEO Hashem Sayed Hashem, who also served as the Conference Chairman. In addition, Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Sabah, CEO of both Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) and Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI), delivered a keynote speech during the event. SPE Chairman Sami Al-Nuaim also addressed the audience before a plenary session was held onstage which featured the participation of OPEC Secretary General H.E. Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, Charles O. Holliday, Chairman of the Board from Royal Dutch Shell and Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Sabah.
