The 2nd Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference

The 2015 Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference (KOGS) was held recently under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait. The occasion marks the second time the event has taken place in Kuwait.

KOGS, which was was organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in cooperation with KPC and its subsidiaries, was held under the theme of “Future Hydrocarbon Resources: Innovations, Technology and Opportunities.”





The opening ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials from Kuwait and abroad. Those in attendance included the Minister of Oil & Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Omair, OPEC Secretary General Abdullah Al-Badri, OAPEC Secretary General Abbas Al-Nagi, KPC CEO Nizar Al-Adsani (Conference Chairperson), KOC CEO Hashem Sayed Hashem (Executive Committee Chairperson), and many Ministers, Ambassadors, and CEOs from local, regional and international oil companies.


Opening speeches were made by Minister of Oil Dr. Ali Al-Omair and KPC CEO Nizar Al-Adsani. Hosnia Hashem, Vice-President of Operations at KUFPEC, and SPE President Janeen Judah also delivered opening remarks at the event.
Over 1,300 individuals from more than 30 countries attended the exhibition that was held at the Kuwait International Fair in Mishref. The exhibition space covered some 14,000 square meters and included 200 exhibitors from 24 countries.
The conference portion of the event consisted of 27 technical sessions, four panel discussions, five special sessions, 50 e-poster presentations, and three courses. In total, 261 papers were presented during KOGS.
Important events also took place on the sidelines of the main KOGS exhibition, including a teacher/student workshop organized by KOC and attended by approximately 50 science teachers and 100 students from secondary schools. The workshop included an opening speech by Emad Sultan, DCEO North Kuwait.
